So Many Parties... So Little Time!

BWL parties can be hosted by an individual, a group of ladies, or an organization.  We have had our Beavercreek Senior Citizen's group host a variety of parties over the past few years with themes including learning line dancing and card parties with prizes awarded.

Each individual or group is responsible for providing everything for the party and other ladies (and men, too!) pay to come to the event.  Generally the cost is $20-$30 for the event and the tickets are bought the day of the Scholarship Luncheon or shortly thereafter.

Check back for a list of the available 2011-2012 parties, but while you're waiting, read about our summer Wine Tasting Party hosted by Gussie Jones.

Gussie Jones and family, along with Dave and Jen Sauer, hosted a fantastic West Cost Wine sampling party on June 25, 2011.

The evening started off with a delightful Gruet Sparkling Wine – Demi-Sec – White. From New Mexico. [Favorite of Carol G]

Second was Jezebel Blanc by Daedalus Cellars served with Au Gratin Scallops: Bread crumbs, Jack Cheese, baked for 10 minutes at 500°. Wine from OR. [Favorite of Carolyn and Dan Tipps]

Third was Aqua Pumpkin Grenache from Santa Ynez Valley in CA. It was served with a Grilled Caesar Salad – dressing of olive oil, salt & pepper.

Fourth was Sauvignon Blanc from Buttonwood, also in Santa Ynez Valley, CA. It was served with grilled chicken in a mushroom artichoke cream sauce.

Fifth on the menu was Revelry – Merlot- from the Columbia Valley in WA. A wonderful accompaniment was a grilled tritip steak, from DLM, with a Balsamic Glaze with Blood Orange. The steak was marinated overnight with a rub of paprika, garlic, onions, salt, pepper and cayenne. The glaze is from a bottle available to upscale restaurants and maybe Gussie if you say pretty please and request nicely from Dave Sauer.

Last but not least was Apothic Red – a blend of syrah, zinfandel and merlot from CA. This was served with a Flourless Chocolate Torte topped with whipped cream and strawberries marinated in Grand Marnier.

Needless to say – It was magnificent evening with wonderful company. The weather was perfect and the hosts superb.

Thank you Gussie, family, Dave and Jen for another excellent annual Wine Tasting Party – one not to be missed.
