HOW TO HELP:
  • Donate a raffle basket – contact Micaela Leonard (850-240-4947) or leonards@mindspring if you would like to donate a basket. Baskets do not have to follow our Tuscan theme, and buying local is always recommended. Don’t forget the men in our lives, our furry friends and the young and young at heart. Consider joining forces with other members to put your baskets together or donate individual items and let Basket Wizard Micaela do her magic!
  • Attend the luncheon and bring non-members with you as guests.
  • If you cannot attend the luncheon yourself, please consider a donation to the scholarship fund.
  • Buy raffle tickets – at the luncheon we’ll have the raffle baskets, specialty drinks, the BWL Board Basket (multiple gift cards from local merchants) and other opportunities. Raffle ticket bundles are available online as well.
  • Be a Party Hostess (see below)
  • Be a Party Guest (see below).com

2011-2012 Scholarship Luncheon

On Saturday, April 21st,  218 guests enjoyed beautiful works of art and live demonstrations as part of "The Artist's Palette" Scholarship Luncheon.  Held at Schindler Center in Xenia, Ohio, Melissa McIntire and her committee once again created a wonderful setting for our annual event. Beautiful works by local and student artists filled the room and adorned the tables while artist Tom Hock created a oil painting before our waiting eyes.  As always, we were treated to a sumptuous banquet in between perusing, purchasing, and bidding on raffle baskets, parties, and silent auction items. Pictures by Jolene Westafer to follow soon.

2010-2011 Scholarship Luncheon

Saturday, April 16th there was a buzz in the air and the feeling of a spring meadow overwhelmed the Schindler Center in Xenia, Ohio. Beavercreek Women League’s annual Scholarship Luncheon brought a splash of color and the splendor of nature to a dreary wet day. The scene was set with a wonderful display of plants and a water fountain from Knollwood Garden Center. Each table named after a common Ohio butterfly and decorated with the colorful accents of butterflies among the branches and along a rivers edge. Over 200 guests fluttered around enjoying the delightful music, raffle baskets, parties, silent auction items and the informative butterfly facts throughout the room.

Last years W.I.T. recipient, Shelia Miller started the afternoon with a heartfelt thank you. She shared with us what it meant to her to receive her grant and the difference it has made in her life.

A delightful lunch was prepared by Chef Marcus; detailing the theme of the event. The buffet was blooming with wonderful breads, salads, dressings and the best vegetable lasagna I have ever tasted. Madonna’s School of Dance entertained us with four charming dances performed by her students.

A beautiful assortment of 25 raffle baskets was donated to the luncheon. The creativity of the BWL members was nothing short of awe-inspiring. The women give to this event with their hearts, and it showed in the details. These baskets brought in more ticket sales than in the past. BWL members and the community donated a fabulous array of 11 Silent Auction items. The items ranged from a bottle of wine with a gift certificate for Fleming’s, a beautiful Topaz ring to Lenox dessert plates with designer Cupcakes from Gigi’s. But it didn’t end there, we had 7 parties that were offered by our members and 5 are still available for you to participate in. Please check with Jill LaRock to see which one you can attend.

Over all this years Scholarship Luncheon not only brought to mind the beauty of a butterfly meadow, giving us the opportunity to visit with new and old friends. It also gave us the ability to raise over $11,000 dollars to give to 3 students of Beavercreek High School and multiple W.I.T applicants. Thank you all for your support on this wonderful event and the opportunity to change life’s. Without all of you this would not be possible.

2009-2010 Scholarship Luncheon

The spirit of world travel was in the air at the Beavercreek Women’s League Scholarship “Around The World With BWL” at the beautiful Legacy Center, Xenia April, 17, 2010. About 200 guests enjoyed the delicious luncheon and fascinating decorations depicting the beautiful and interesting items that have been collected during the travels of league members. Lucky winners of theme baskets stocked with goodies, provided by members of the League were abundant. Long lines formed for the exciting sign-up parties made the League's signature gala event of the year a success.

This is the 27th Annual Scholarship Luncheon. Since its inception, over $100,000 has been raised to fund the BWL scholarship program. It is the League’s pleasure to present this money to graduating, college bound Beavercreek High School students and Women in Transition (WIT), who are resuming college after a break for personal reasons.

At this year's scholarship luncheon, the League’s signature gala event of the year, Marsha Young, teacher of Special Education at Valley Elementary was a speaker, and former WIT awardee. She spoke on the value of the WIT scholarship, which enabled her to finish her bachelor's degree, fill a teaching position in the Beavercreek School System, and put her on track to complete a doctorate degree in the near future. A performance of cultural dances of the Philippines was enjoyed by all.
