2014 Winners

2014 Woman in Transition Winners

The Beavercreek Women’s League Women in Transition committee received 22 applications. The WiT committee received 22 applications from Beavercreek (12), Fairborn (5), Bellbrook (1), and Yellow Springs (2). The women are enrolled at Wright State University (13), Sinclair Community College(5), Antioch (2), Franklin University (1), and Kettering College of Medical Arts (1). Their ages ranged from 26 to 54. Each submitted a letter explaining the transition in her life along with the application and an official transcript. These lady scholars may use the award for tuition, books, or lab fees. From 2000-2014 the BWL has awarded $63,500 to our WiT winners.
Each of the following winners received a $1000 scholarship: 
  • Christina Allen is majoring in social science medicine at Wright State University.

  • Lori Coulter attends Sinclair Community College and is majoring in physical therapy assistant.

  • Elizabeth Swartzwelter-Cozad lives in Beavercreek and is enrolled at the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University.

  • Brooke Harris is working on her masters degree at Wright State University to become an Adult Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She presently works at Miami Valley in the heart and vascular intensive care area.

  • Pamela Nelson attends Wright State University in nursing.

2014 Beavercreek High School Scholarship Winners

All three winners of the 2013 BWL scholarships were highly recommended by the school members on the interview committee. Each completed an application and an interview by teachers, counselors, and community volunteers. Each received $2000 for tuition, books, or lab fees.
  • Sarah Clark is enrolled at Bowling Green State University in early childhood education. At BHS she participated in Network, Link Crew, French Club, and Muse Machine. She graduated with a GPA of 3.4. She babysits quite a bit a thinks this experience will help in her chosen field of education.

  • Stephanie Nicholls has a 4.4 GPA and is 38th in the class. She is enrolled at Cedarville University in biology / pre-medicine and hopes to become a pediatrician. At BHS she was in National Honor Society, Link Crew, and DIRTT, and she was the drum major of the band. Outside of school she is active in her church youth group and also with a competitive dance team.

  • Aliza Mann is going to Wright State University to study social work and she hopes to have a job in the mental health field. She ranks 63rd in the class with a 4.2 GPA. She is a merit scholar and is in the Honors Program. At school she was a Peer Listener, Peer Helper, and member of Link Crew. She enjoys playing rugby.
